Speightstown appeal

ANOTHER INITIATIVE geared towards upgrading, redeveloping and bringing energy back to Speightstown is being undertaken.

Speightstown resident Jewel Leacock is spearheading an ambitious programme she hopes will attract more people to the historic northern town.

Frustrated by failed efforts to bring life back to the once bustling area, Leacock has teamed up with Barbados-based British citizen Veronica Collis-Boyce and Barbadian Anthony Blackman to come up with a multiphased programme for revival.

The first phase will see art murals being painted on the walls of buildings portraying the history of the town, upgrades to derelict buildings and “basic renovations to improve the appearance” of others. (GC)
