THE TOURISTS JUST keep coming.

And they are also spending.

Chief executive officer (CEO) of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI), William “Billy” Griffith, delivered the news of high tourism growth yesterday at the State Of The Industry Conference at Hilton Barbados Resort.

Griffith said that preliminary figures for January to August showed the island’s tourism continued to grow following last year’s record-breaking 591 000 long-stay arrivals.

“So far for the year we have achieved 421 914 long-stay visitors and we’re trending 5.3 per cent ahead of the previous year. That actually translates to approximately 22 000 increased visitor arrivals so far for the year,” he said. (AD)
