A FLAT TYRE on the long and twisty Cherry Grove to Todds course was not enough to prevent young Dane Skeete from doing the double in the Motoring Club Barbados Inc.’s (MCBI) Burger King/Unleashed double header speed event last Sunday.
The only son of national sports icon Roger ‘The Sheriff’ Skeete, the younger Skeete, in the Sol/Flow/Automotive Art/Williams Trading Inc Peugeot 306 Maxi, was sidelined on the third run, but had already placed winning beyond the reach of the Sunday morning field by posting the fastest time on the course of 2 minutes 46.67 seconds.
It was more than two seconds faster than Josh Read at the wheel of the Sprite/Stihl/Gliptone/Hankook/Weetabix/Chutney’s/Urban Kitchen/ Toyota Starlet whose time was 2 minutes 48.30 seconds.
“I had a flat tyre and these things can happen in motorsport, but I am happy to have prevailed. I am looking to the final event of the season and getting the car prepared for next season. I have had my share of problems this year,” Skeete acknowledged. (TT)
