BWA: It’s not our fault

THE BARBADOS WATER AUTHORITY (BWA) is denying that its Vineyard reservoir in St Philip overflowed and was responsible for flooding more than 50 acres of ripe cane on Three Houses Plantation.

Responding to the issue that was highlighted in yesterday’s MIDWEEK NATION, manager of engineering Stephen Lindo told the DAILY NATION he could not explain the damage to the cane but was quite certain the water spread across the fields was only rainwater.

“We are denying that the reservoir has been overflowing because that is not the case at Vineyard to my knowledge. There were heavy rainfalls in the area and the water was rushing down a cart road,” he said.

When it was brought to his attention that the man who made the initial complaint of the reservoir was doing so since March, Lindo said he did not have any history of phone calls or reports. (MR)
