BARBADOS HAS NOT yet been given the all-clear.
The tropical system which was expected to hit the island between last night and this morning has not yet passed and Acting Director of the Department of Emergency Services Kerry Hinds told NATION Online they are now playing the waiting game.
She revealed they were awaiting the results from a hurricane hunter which entered the system and they would be giving another update at noon.
“We take our guidance from the Met Office and right now the system has not passed. It is still a tropical disturbance. It has not passed and what has happened as well is that the reconnaissance aircraft has entered the system again to get some additional information.
“We are waiting to get those updates and as we get those updates and look at the information then we will make a decision, but we have to take our cues from the Met Office. It is now a wait and see situation at this point,” Hinds said.
“It is a case where it hasn’t passed as yet so we are not yet out of the woods.” (RB)
