IT WAS NOT the type of rescue expected for yesterday, but a group of strolling tourists were in time to save the day.
With businesses closed because of predicted bad weather, and most people at home until the all-clear was given, several tourists took to the Richard Haynes Boardwalk in Hastings, Christ Church, and the nearby beach for a leisurely stroll.
It was in the midst of doing so when something in the grape vines by KFC caught the eyes of Chris and Sandie Evans from Ipswich, England.
They would discover that it was a tiny hatchling turtle, which was struggling to get out of a hole. After trying to no avail to find a number for the relevant authorities, they called a NATION team over for help. (YB)
