THE KING is back into the swing of things.

Barbados’ top-ranked tennis pro Darian King has made quite the start to his latest Challenger event after getting out of the opening round of both the singles and doubles at the Wells Fargo Bank Tiburon Challenger in California.

Ranked 165 in the world, the 24-year-old baseliner downed Yuki Bhambri of India 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in his first-round match before pairing with rising American star Frances Tiafoe for a wild 7-6(2), 6-7(18), 10-8 victory over Canadians Peter Polansky and Philip Bester.

King was slated to face top seed and world no. 91 Benjamin Becker of Germany in a second round match last night on centre court.

Tiafoe and King are scheduled to play Americans Sekou Bangoura and Mitchell Kreuger. (JM)
