Ex-cons ‘need a little help’

ESTABLISH A REINTEGRATION programme for ex-convicts and those exiting the Government Industrial School.

That was the recommendation of criminologist Yolande Forde, who submitted that the absence of such an initiative has left a “serious gap” in the system.

Her call came two weeks after 51-year-old murder convict Peter Bradshaw, released six months ago after serving a 30-year sentence, was remanded on gun, ammunition and drug charges.

During a lecture at the Maurice Byer Polyclinic, Speightstown, St Peter earlier this week, Forde said, “You can’t bring people from that setting and expect that people are just going to open their arms and receive them. (WILLCOMM)
