Darian King is into another ATP Challenger final.
Barbados’ top-ranked tennis pro came from a set down and a two-break deficit in the second set before rallying for today’s big comeback win over American Mackenzie McDonald in the semi-finals of the Wells Fargo Tiburon Tennis Challenger in California.
Playing on centre court while trailing 3-0 and then 4-1 in that second set, the 24-year-old King pulled off one valiant comeback to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 over the hometown hero.
The Bajan ace, ranked 165 in the world, was also down a break in the third and deciding set when McDonald served for the match at 5-4.
But King closed out the match by winning three straight games after also saving the match with six straight games between the second and third sets. (JM)
