FOR THE FIRST time since 1995, the graduation ceremonies of the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill will be held on the grounds of the campus.

UWI communications officer Chelston Lovell said that because of the unavailability of venues to host the 2016 graduations for the thousands leaving the regional institution, the students would be receiving their degrees on the lawns.

The graduations were previously held at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex which is currently undergoing repairs.

A student affairs official from the Barbados Community College also said that they too would hold their graduation underneath the tents set up at the tertiary institution.

“As far as I know there was no other accommodation available,” Lovell said. (MR)
