Sinckler wants to wrap up BRA issue

IN A STRONG STATEMENT to members of the business community yesterday ahead of a meeting with customs officers, he suggested that the process was being deliberately stymied, while Government had been “bending over backwards” to accommodate the trade unions.

The latest problem, which prevented the October 1 transition, relates to the appointment of officers.

He said the union was well aware that “everybody cannot be appointed because legally it is not possible for various reasons, including that some of the officers that they want to have appointed are not qualified for the job”, said Sinckler.

He was the guest speaker at the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s business luncheon at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. (WILLCOMM)
