BEATEN but still very much on a high.

The United States held pride of place at the Hockey World League in Mexico ovcer the weekend but Barbados earned some satisfaction with the silver medal.

Barbados advanced to last Sunday’s final, but lost 6-1 to tournament hosts United States of America (USA). The home team had beaten Mexico 2-1 on Saturday to advance to the final.

“Mexico is ranked 18 places above us, and the USA 25. Our objective always was definitely to be in the finals and to play the qualifying round too,” coach Dominic Hill told NATIONSPORT. (RA)
