Nose-out still bugs Patrick

“UP TO this day that race still haunts me,” said jockey Patrick Husbands as he reflected on his runner-up finish in the 2000 Canadian International Stakes.

Seated aboard Williams News, the ace Barbadian jockey battled in the stretch run with Frankie Dettori’s mount, Mutafaweq right down to the wire.

At first glance, it appeared that Husbands had won the race, but after review it showed his horse had lost by just a nose.

“You could ask anybody that day who was at Woodbine, anybody who watched the race, even Frankie hugged me after the race and said ‘congrats Patrick’ and then they called him back and said he won.”
