THE BARBADOS WORKERS’ UNION (BWU) wants 15 per cent; the government is offering zero.
And a stand-off now seems to be brewing between the Ministry of the Civil Service and the BWU after the latest round of wages negotiations, held at Government Headquarters, apparently ended in a stalemate yesterday.
The two will head back to the bargaining table in a few weeks but, stressed BWU general secretary Toni Moore, the negotiations will not be a long drawn out process.
Moore, who was addressing a news conference at Solidarity House to update the media on the progress of the talks, explained yesterday’s meeting was the first the two had after the BWU submitted its wage proposals on May 27, this year. (HLE)
