IT HAD THE makings of another thriller until the rain intervened.
Curtis Jones and Victor “Earth” Ward had shared one set a piece and were about to begin the deciding third, when mother nature took its course and prevented any further play in their Barbados Public Workers Credit Union’s Monarchs Of The Court match on the Flow Courts Thursday night.
The encounter was starting to revive memories of Ward’s match against Kerry “TC” Francis Monday night.
On that occasion, Ward comfortably took the first set against Francis and he repeated the feat against Jones 21-16. He was in imperious form, again heavily dependent on his reliable back hand and chops. He could easily get a job in a butcher’s shop. Given enough room, he would chop opponents out of contention.
