DON’T BE surprised if you see Mark “Venom” Griffith at the Barbados Licensing Authority or an insurance company early next week, to pay road tax and insure a new vehicle.

With a $60 000 motor car up for grabs in the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union’s Monarchs of the Court road tennis tournament, Griffith ominously moved one step away from holding the keys on Tuesday night by reaching the grand final.

Griffith totally outclassed and outrallied Curtis Jones enroute to a 21-12, 21-23, 21-8, 21-16 triumph in the best-of-five sets first semi-final at the old Cable Wireless courts, Wildey.

The one-hour long match was marked by lengthy rallies, ranging from 30 to nearly 50-ball exchanges as Griffith atoned for his double loss to Jones in the Inter-Parish Tournament semi-finals in January. (EZS)
