Tyson Gay’s daughter killed

FAYETTE COUNTY – The 15-year-old daughter of American sprinter Tyson Gay was shot and killed early this morning.

Trinity Gay, a student at Lafayette High School who was following in her father’s footsteps as an athlete, died around 4:41 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital.

According to media outlets, Trinity was shot in the neck around 4 a.m., caught in the crossfire of a shoot-out which occurred in the car park at Cook Out Restaurant on South Broadway.

Trinity had earlier tweeted about the shooting in the car park.

She was initially taken to another hospital by private vehicle before being transferred.

Witnesses say there was an exchange of gunfire between the occupants of a grey Dodge Charger and a dark-coloured sports car with tinted windows.

Police have found the Charger and two people have been detained for questioning. (Barbados Nation)
