Scores turn up to work on Canadian farm

SCORES OF MEN turned up at the Warren’s office of the National Employment Bureau of the Ministry of Labour early today in the hope of securing one of the 20 jobs being offered in the Canadian Farm Labour Programme.

Acting senior labour officer Yvette Walcott-Denny said the department had received the request from the Barbados Liaison Service in Canada for Barbadian workers.

The successful applicants will be assigned to fill a two-year contract working in a new set of  cucumber greenhouses owned by a farmer in the Canadian Great Lakes region.

The request was specifically for men age 20 to 45 years. (GC)
