HE BEGGED FOR SEX, but she refused, and his reaction landed Ruel Clairmont Springer in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 55-year-old, of Deacons Main Road, St Michael, appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick charged with assault after slapping his former girlfriend when she rebuffed his desires.
While admitting committing the offence against Tammika Nicholls on October 16, the car washer expressed his love for the woman in open court.
“I love you so bad,” he declared, as she left the witness stand.
Prosecutor Sergeant Neville Watson stated that around 6:06 a.m. last Sunday, Nicholls was asleep in Springer’s room in their two-bedroom home. He subsequently came in and woke her with his amorous intentions. When she denied him, he then tried to take off her clothes; but the more he persisted, the more she resisted.
She called him a ***, and he slapped her in the face. She repeated the derogatory remark, and he again slapped her in the face.
Nicholls got free of him and left the house, subsequently reporting the incident to police.
Springer told the court the pair lived together and he provided everything for her. On the date in question, he said he came into his bedroom, saw her sleeping and he asked for sex. When she refused, he got “vex” and hit her.
However, he said they had good vibes and he loved her very deeply.
“I love de woman; I won’t do it no more,” he said, adding that he meant her no harm and did not take advantage of her.
“You love her, she loves you; make love, not war,” Magistrate Frederick said before placing him on a six-month bond to keep the peace.
It he breaches it, he will serve three months in jail. (TKS)
