BARBADOS HAS TAKEN its fair set of hits in the international business arena over the years, but there have been some valuable lessons.
Speaking at the opening reception for International Business Week, which was hosted by the Barbados International Business Association at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion on Monday evening, Acting Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business, Senator Jepter Ince, said the blacklisting of Barbados, the recent exposure from the “Panama Papers” and other challenges had been “useful”.
“They have highlighted the fact that international financial centres like Barbados have a legitimate role to play in the optimisation strategies of global business. They have also served to reinforce the value of ensuring that our regulatory framework adheres to international standards and best practice on all levels.” (YB)
