CAWMERE may have ended in the cellar of the Goddard Enterprises Limited Division One League last year, but don’t be surprised if they take the crown this year.
Boasting a line-up of awesome attackers and excess setters, Cawmere recovered from their last game blip against the knockout champions Barbados Bearings Progressive to defeat newcomers All Stars 25-15, 25-18, 25-23 when the action continued on Wednesday night at the Kensington Bond.
They have now won two games and are second on 12 points, trailing League kings Flow Deacons, who have a maximum 15 points from three wins.
Big Barbados left-handed hitter Shawn Simpson, along with Jamaican nationals Mark Lewis and Roberts Andrews unleashed a barrage of spikes, with former junior setter Jon-Jo Reece running an offence that threatened to make All Stars court kill. (KB)
