Loopers capture tennis title

FAST LOOPERS captured the Premier League in the Barbados Table Tennis Association’s club competition when they romped to a third consecutive victory at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, Saturday night.

The Loopers beat Barbados Defence Force 3-0 to complete a truncated season of just three rounds to determine the champions of the top league in which only four teams competed.

Tyrese Knight gave Fast Loopers the early advantage when he beat fellow national player Kristian Doughty 11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 11-1.

Trevor Farley then took out Rashad King 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-4 and joined with Dale Rudder to seal the result in the doubles by beating Keon Alleyne and Doughty 3-2. The Loopers pair won 10-12, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10. (PH)
