THE SENIOR PASTOR at the People’s Cathedral, Reverend Andre Symmonds, has been suspended.
This was confirmed last night by Bishop Gerry Seale, local head of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies, in a brief statement he issued without indicating the circumstances leading to Symmonds’ suspension from the Bishop’s Court Hill, St Michael church.
“On October 6 an issue affecting Rev. Andre Symmonds was drawn to my attention. It has become necessary for the district executive to suspend Rev. Symmonds from ministry until this matter can be satisfactorily resolved. I would be grateful if we could make this a matter of intercession rather than speculation and gossip.
“The district executive is working assiduously through our internal process to expedite the procedures and resolve any and all matters surrounding the issue,” the statement noted.
Seale made it clear he could not go into any details on the matter.
Symmonds, a young charismatic minister, took over leadership of what is one of this island’s megachurches from the late Rev. Holmes Williams. He recently launched a book titled Bible Boosters.
Yesterday, officials at the People’s Cathedral were tight-lipped about the developments at the church, referring all questions to senior official there, Paul Williams. He declined comment and directed queries to Bishop Seale. (ES)
