BARBADOS AND THE Dominican Republic are all tied up in their pivotal Davis Cup tie.

Playing at the Centro Nacional De Tenis Parque Del Este in Santo Domingo, the two nations ended the first day locked 1-1 after splitting the opening singles rubbers this morning.

Bajan ace and world no.132 Darian King gave Barbados a brief lead by beating Jose Hernandez 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 in just under three hours.

But Victor Estrella, no.94 in the world, quickly levelled the tie after defeating veteran Barbados player Haydn Lewis 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(9).

King and Lewis are slated to face teenagers Jose Olivares and Nick Hardt in doubles tomorrow rubber before switching up the matchups for Sunday’s reverse singles. (JM)
