THE MEETING between the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) and the Chief Personnel Officer Gail Atkins is currently underway.

Minutes after 11:30, NUPW President Akanni McDowall and other union officials entered the E Humphrey Walcott building this morning to discuss the change in his employment terms.

This follows a meeting between the union and health inspectors yesterday where industrial action was threatened.

By nightfall however, a notice was given via the Government Information Service that a meeting would be held today.

Last month, McDowall was removed from his acting post of Health Planner I and returned to the more junior post of Environmental Health Assistant I. Someone has since been appointed to the position and the NUPW views it as a case of supercession. (AD)
