A BRIEF GUNFIGHT between police and a group of men in a car at Clifton Hall, St John, during the early hours of yesterday ended without injuries, but police later carted away several people, guns and ammunition from the area.

However, lawmen said the shooters escaped.

After the incident, both police and residents from area accused each other of shooting first and while lawmen said they returned fire out of fear for their lives, residents accused them of harassment and brutality.

The latest incident came five days after several young men from the area complained that police had barged into a house where they were playing video games and tied a rope around their necks, put a cocked gun to one man’s head and beat them. (AC)
