THE RESIDENTS of Chapman Lane, The City, have had more than enough of the open canal running through their neighbourhood.

Ryan Callender wants something done, not only with the canal, but with a dilapidated house where he said a friend of his and the friend’s father were living in inhumane conditions.

“For one thing, that canal needs cleaning. It is months before it gets cleaned and it smell stink. Another thing, Government supposed to get this house fix. A man does live in there with his father, who sick with diabetes. When the rain fall, they can’t even stay in there. They got to sleep by me,” he said.

Callender did not want to disclose the identity of the residents but described them as “good friends”, which was why he felt obligated to speak up.

“The water get turn off and I pay the bill for he so he could bathe. I just live here next door where I run a sports bar but between the canal and the house, the rats got me almost shut down. I can only cook to order as ’bout here too stink,” he said. (CA)
