Marshall: Agard on DLP platform could hurt BLP

DR MARIA AGARD’S expulsion from the opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) could come under the political microscope even more as a general election looms, says political scientist Dr Don Marshall (below).

Agard, who was expelled from the party in November last year, now sits as an Independent Member of Parliament in the House of Assembly, but has been mum on her political intentions in recent months. marshalldon

But according to Marshall, when she does play her political hand, it could have a residual effect on the machinery of the BLP, possibly forcing it to take fresh guard leading into the next general election, constitutionally due in 2018.

“In terms of any ground war or ground campaigns, Maria Agard will be a drawing card in terms of her public platform, if she plays that to her advantage,” Marshall said. (BA)
