HARARE – Emerging players are expected to jostle for permanent places as West Indies launch a fresh effort to revive their cricket fortunes on the heels of back-to-back series losses which climaxed on a high with a rare Test triumph over Pakistan.

West Indies are playing Sri Lanka in the second match of a One Day International (ODI) Tri-series series at Harare Sports Club, today.

Missing from the regional squad are batsman Marlon Samuels, wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, allrounder Kieron Pollard, ace spinner Sunil Narine, as well as Darren Bravo, who sent home from the tour for an outburst on Twitter, criticising the WICB president, Dave Cameron.

Their absence clears the way for the likes of batsmen Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, uncapped wicketkeeper/batsmen Shai Hope and Shane Dowrich and off-spinner Ashley Nurse to step up. (CMC)
