Appeal to fix burst main

RESIDENTS OF SPRING TERRACE, Enterprise, Christ Church are making another appeal to the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to fix a burst main in their district.

The main started dripping in July, but the situation worsened last week.

Despite repeated calls to the BWA and even a visit to the office on Bay Street, the water continues to flow and the neighbourhood was without running water for the last four days.

A tanker finally came today, but one resident who spoke to NATION Online wants it  fixed.

“It is our precious resource. We don’t have that much as is. They keep telling us not to waste it, but they seem to be doing that on their own.”

What makes the situation even more untenable is the fact that a BWA worker visited the area about two weeks ago and painted an arrow in the road.

No one returned until Thursday when a three-man crew looked at the leak and said they could not fix it.

Video obtained by showed water flowing freely from the ruptured main.

The resident said some members of the community were elderly and one person was forced to leave and stay at a relative, but that option was not open to everyone. (SAT)
