THE NATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC WORKERS (NUPW) is upping its ante.
The country’s largest public sector union already has customs and immigration officers on a go-slow at the country’s two ports of entry, but turned up the heat even more yesterday, rejecting a proposal that staff at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) form part of a wage negotiation along with the rest of the public service.
The union then advised the general staff of the airport to join the industrial action.
The ramped up action comes less than two weeks before the country is slated to welcome thousands to participate in its 50th anniversary Independence celebrations. (BA)
