A TEENAGER became Barbados’ latest road fatality earlier tonight.

Police spokesman Inspector Roland Cobbler confirmed the accident occurred after 9 p.m. at Mount Gay, St Lucy, but has not yet released the name of the deceased.

The 17-year-old was on board ZR 135 which was driven by 27-year-old Tristan Phillips of Chance Hall, St Lucy. He was part of a group going on an outing when the driver allegedly lost control and the van overturned.

The mass casualty system was activated. One doctor, three ambulances and two fire tenders from the Barbados Fire Service responded to the scene.

Eight other people complained of various injuries.

Three of them were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance in serious, but stable condition.

Police investigations are continuing. (PR/SAT)
