THE NATIONAL Sports Council (NSC) are currently holding the top spot in the Barbados Football Association’s Women’s Premier League competition.
In Sunday’s matches at the Usain Bolt Complex, NSC thrashed Braddie’s Bar Pinelands 6-0 to remain undefeated after eight matches with 24 points.
Kimberly Ellis started the ball rolling in the 14th minute and was followed with two goals from Jalisa Callender, in the 22nd and 30th minutes.
These three early goals certainly put some pressure on Pinelands but it was an outcome they couldn’t turn around.
Lovely shot
Within two minutes of returning to the field after half-time, Shanice Stevenson sent a lovely shot into the net.
Though there was a dry period with neither team scoring, the NSC certainly had a point to prove when Tianna Hackett planted a solid goal to raise the teams tally to five goals in the 71st minute. Stevenson sealed the deal with her second goal in the 81st minute.
ESFC Unity Stars and Mavericks share second place in the competition so far with 13 points.
Goals
ESFC Unity Stars defeated Technique Football Club 2-0 through goals by Rianna Cyrus in the 41st minute and Sharifa Corbin, in the 54th.
UWI Women FC also recorded a win when they defeated Kick Start Genesis 2-1.
Gabriella Lopez was the first to have her name written on the scoreboard with a lovely shot in the 18th minute while Ashleigh-Ann Dussard added to the tally in the 59th.
Tori-Ann Cadogan managed to score in the 71st for Kick Start, but it was a bit too late to snatch the victory from the hands of UWI. (RG)
