OLYMPIAN AKELA JONES’ love for underprivileged children came to the fore yesterday with the launch the “Each One Can” programme.

The programme, which is being held in association with the Rotary Club of Barbados, was given its wings in a ceremony during which the past student of the Springer Memorial Secondary School said organisers will be providing food, mentorship and psychiatric assistance for children in need.

Jones, a former ward of the state who moved from children’s home to children’s home, said that she had an “aha moment” when she came across some of her counterparts on the court pages of the daily newspapers.
