MTW workers: It’s not our fault

DON’T BLAME US!

That was the response of line workers of the Ministry of Transport and Works to our series highlighting the poor state of many of the nation’s roads, which are now littered with potholes.

The consensus of workers who spoke with the WEEKEND NATION is that they have neither the tools nor material with which to work. According to one employee familiar with matters at the ministry’s mechanical workshop in The Pine, St Michael, Barbadians only need to take a glance through the fence there to understand the scope of the problem.

Of eight skid street loaders (Bobcats) owned by the ministry to service the dozen depots across the island, not one was working this week, the employee charged. Additionally, all but two panel trucks operated by the ministry were off the road. (RRM)
