LOCAL HOCKEY is one step closer to getting its turf laid.
President Mark St Hill revealed the Barbados Hockey Federation (BHF) had finally received all Government approval and was only now awaiting the supplier to prepare a shipment of 240 tonnes of sand to complete the laying of the idle AstroTurf.
Both St Hill and Barbados Olympic Association assistant secretary general Cammie Burke made the disclosure in a telephone interview with WEEKENDSPORT just days after getting a duty waiver to bring in the massive shipment.
“I would say it’s at an advanced stage where we are trying to organise the payment and working out the shipping but at this time of the year, when you get all caught up with Christmas, that can pose a little problem,” said Burke. (JM)
