THE SECURITY AT Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) has not been compromised by the recent industrial action staged by the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW).
Management of the facility has reacted swiftly to a claim that untrained security guards were manning the important stations on Friday after general staff members represented by the NUPW left their stations to join protest action on the outside.
“Grantley Adams International Airport wishes to advise the public that the security at the airport will never be compromised at any time, whether during normal situations, or during an industrial dispute,” the airport countered in a statement released yesterday.
“International requirements mandate that passengers seeking to enter the restricted areas of the airport are subject to screening and security controls. GAIA has, and will always comply with international security requirements,” the statement added. (BA/PR)
