McDowall points finger at Govt

DON’T BLAME THE National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) for the current impasse at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

That’s the feeling of embattled president Akanni McDowall, who is not moving away from the position that the country’s largest public sector union has acted in good faith to protect the 400 plus members employed at Grantley Adams.

“The union and its members have been patient and open to meaningful discussions and negotiations with Government,” McDowall told the SUNDAY SUN

“When members make their concerns public, it’s only after efforts to reach resolution have failed,” he said about the decision to continue industrial action last week at a time when thousands are expected to continue arriving for the country’s 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations.
