CHRIST CHURCH East Central came from behind to claim an exciting 3-2 win over St James Central when the quarter-finals of the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Councils Football Classic got underway at Bagatelle on Saturday night.
The defending champions were pushed hard by St James Central, but held firm to emerge from the fiercely fought contest with a semi-final berth.
In the early kick-off, St George South advanced at the expense of St James North, with Shakille Belle notching what proved to be the crucial strike after only ten minutes.
St James Central opened the scoring against the run of play in the 44th minute after some sustained Christ Church East Central pressure had even seen them hit the bar via a Jabarry “Pappy” Chandler free kick.
