ZANE MALONEY is looking to wrest a major karting title at this year’s Florida Winter Tour (FWT), organised by MAXSpeed.
Fresh from winning the Hard Charger award at the US Super Nationals in Las Vegas, the 12-year-old karter, who is also the World Karting Association Manufacturers’ Cup series champion is down to face the starter in the Florida Winter Tour from December 28 to 30.
His crew chief and father Sean Maloney said that he is ready for the event, recalling the events of the Las Vegas outing when a bad callby race stewards caused the youngster a title in Las Vegas.
“He was having problems with the kart and was protecting his position after starting the race from pole position, and in his attempt to come to grips with the problem the stewards black-flagged him, which caused him to have to start at the back of the race in the final,” the senior said. (TT)
