COMMUTERS HAVE BEEN told to expect delays in the Transport Board bus service due to the inclement weather.
In posts on its Facebook page, the board said flooding and the early closure of schools caused some disruption to its regular schedule.
“Due to the inclement weather being experienced in Barbados today, a decision was made to have early closure for all schools. As soon as this information was received the Transport Board put systems in place to go to the schools which are serviced by the Transport Board.
“This change to our regular operating procedure, coupled with the gridlock and flooding on the roads has resulted in delays in reaching the schools,” one post said.
The Transport Board assured the public that staff were “working assiduously to ensure that the students are collected, to allow them to reach home as quickly and safely as possible”.
Another post asked members of the travelling public to bear with the corporation.
“Please note that some areas are flooded and roads are impassable. Be mindful that our buses cannot travel through water at step level and above,” the board said. (PR/NB)
