THERE IS NO TRUTH to a social media post stating some schools are not fit for operation and encouraging parents to keep their children at home until Monday.
In a post on Facebook, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said he had given no directive to close schools on Friday.
“Stop the malicious nonsense about schools being closed on Friday. The Minister of Education is the only lawful authority who can do such and I have given no such instructions beyond Tomorrow, Thursday. Any other notice or note circulating on Facebook is mischievous.”
The post appeared this evening, claiming to originate from the Government Information Service, even though it was not on their official website.

The Barbados Government Information service with respect to the Ministry of Education is issuing an advisory to the Barbadian public.
Initial investigations have deemed certain Educational Institutions not fit for operation, please see the list below and follow accordingly.

Parents are advised not to encourage their children to attend these institutions as a clean up effort has been initialized so as to commence classes on *Monday 5th December 2016*. The Ministry of Education greatly appreciates your co-operation in this matter.
Earlier today, the Ministry of Education announced all public nursery, primary and secondary schools would be closed tomorrow.
Principals are requested to visit schools with the management teams and assess the plants for readiness to reopen on Friday.
They should report their findings to their Education District Officer or the officers of the Secondary Section at the Ministry. (SAT)
