Babies arrive for Independence Day

FIVE BABIES were born on Barbados’ 50th anniversary of Independence at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Two of them came in the early hours of the morning and arrived within 30 minutes of each other.

The other three babies, two girls and one boy were born later in the evening. 

The first of the group was Omari Forde, who came at 2:27 a.m. to parents M. Forde and mum Karen Forde, weighing seven pounds and 23 ounces. 

The second was a baby girl, Shakayla, who was born at 2:45 a.m. and weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces. She was born to mother Jalisa Best and father Swayne Franklyn.

Both mothers were greeted at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by representatives of Kiwani’s Club of Barbados Central and Massy Distribution, the toddlers were gifted hampers compliments Johnson & Johnson and Huggies. (TSG)
