Call for only cricket at the Oval

AT LEAST one man wants the home of cricket to be used for just that. And only that.

Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) board member Winston Stafford is against Kensington Oval being used as a multi-event facility and is calling for the hallowed cricket ground to stop staging non-cricketing events.

Stafford made the call in a recent Facebook post in relation to a SUNDAY SUN exclusive that revealed the BCA had been forced to shift two regional four-day matches from Kensington due to the deteriorating state of the grass.

“The damage to the playing field at Kensington Oval must be of concern to a cricket-loving nation. The inappropriate use of a facility developed specifically for the staging of international cricket matches is now in crisis,” posted Stafford. (JM)
