DEAR CHRISTINE, My problem is about the man I am living with.
I knew he was jealous when we met and I did everything not to cause him to be jealous of me. I gave up all my old friends but still he’s after me with questions about this body and that body.
I had two other boyfriends before him, but they are now long gone out of my life.
It’s these he questions me about. I’ve told him the truth about them but he still feels there is more.
Recently, he started talking about marriage and when he saw that I was not encouraging him with such talk, he wanted to know why. I told him straight out I did not think we would have a happy marriage because he was too full of doubts and he did not trust me. He said we should go to a marriage counsellor who is also a priest.
Well, I just don’t want to because I am seriously thinking about leaving him.
Another thing he does is, if we have a noise, he goes out and has a woman and then comes back and tells me about it. He tries to blame me for his actions.
I really think I’ve had enough.
– G.T.
Dear G.T.,
I think so too. Your boyfriend needs to see and accept that his jealousy and insecurity are the main problems, and that you existed before he came along.
The same way he shared his life in the past with others, you could have done the same with no accountability whatsoever to him. Furthermore, the fact that he goes with other women and tells you about them, shows he has no respect whatsoever for you. You should have left him the very first time he did so.
Unless you are prepared to live with his questions and accusations, you should really think seriously before binding yourself to him legally.
It does not matter what you did, the past is the past and no one can change that, but there’s no reason why you should always be made to relive it to satisfy someone’s sadistic jealousy.
– CHRISTINE
