LARGE AND SMALL hotels across Barbados are enjoying bumper support from Barbadians from the diaspora, home for celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of independence.

Chairman of the Barbados Hotel Tourism Association (BHTA), Roseanne Myers told the WEEKEND NATION the high occupancies were an indication of the success of the association’s early promotional efforts to encourage Barbadians planning to come home for the special occasion to patronise the island’s large and small hotels.

Myers said the BHTA had embarked on the “strategic move” in partnership with one of the diaspora associations to target Barbadians coming home, some of them second and third generation Barbadians.

The association had managed to get the support of hotels, which bought into the idea and launched their own promotions targeting the Barbadians with the offer of special rates. (GC)
