ON NOVEMBER 30, Barbadians at home and abroad paused to reflect on 50 years of Independence.
Many comments were left on the Nation Barbados’ Facebook page under the video Looking Back At 50 Years, which highlighted some of the top moments in the island’s history.
Set to the tune of John Roett’s 50th anniversary tribute song Our Home Barbados (Legends To Legacy), it took viewers on a sentimental journey, with some saying the video brought them to tears. Up to Saturday afternoon, it had garnered more than 118 000 views
• David Stuart: I was on parade that night as a starry-eyed teenager. Fifty years later I will be on parade again as a wide-eyed senior citizen of beautiful Barbados.
• Pedro Greaves: Happy 50th, Barbados. May God continue to bless this country and may we be thankful always for the blessings that have been poured out to us over the years.
