Cancer Society gets cash injection from Walk for the Cure

THE FINANCIAL TARGETS of the Barbados Breast Screening Society have been met and corporate Barbados is thanking those who supported the 2016 Walk for the Cure.

Last night at Sandals Barbados, Managing Director of CIBC First Caribbean’s Retail and Business Banking Mark St Hill said they had reached their target of US$500 000.

“We will be donating to the Breast Screening here [BDS] $230 000,” he said.

St Hill said they were very grateful to the volunteers and managers who dedicated their time to the Walk.

“This is about fighting for a cause that is very dear to us,” he added.

Medical Coordinator of the Barbados Cancer Society’s Breast Screening Programme Dr Shirley Hanoman Jhagroo said they would continue to have reasonably priced mammograms and invest in current and future projects.

Sandals General Manager Fernand Zievinger said the regional brand had employed many survivors of breast cancer and their supporters who have joined together to raise awareness. (MR)
