DO NOT EXPECT an apology any time soon from Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.

A defiant Sinckler made it clear yesterday that there was no need for him to say sorry for his administration’s efforts to provide financial support to sectors that not only generated thousands of jobs for Barbadians, but also earned vital foreign exchange for the country.

The St Michael North West Member of Parliament made the comment as he moved a measure to approve the guarantee of principal and interest on a $73 million bond by ANSA Merchant Bank for the Barbados Agricultural Management Company to finance the sugar industry.

Addressing the three controversial molasses tanks built in the Bridgetown Port at a cost of $50 million, which the state financed in 2012, Sinckler said Government could not sit idly by when a vital sector was stressed. (GE)
