Alpha still on top

AFTER ANOTHER good night in the pool, Alpha Swim Club maintained their advantage in the Powerade Barbados Olympic Association Independence Short Course National Championships.

Through 36 events they stood at 270 and 235.5 points in the men’s and women’s events, respectively, after Wednesday night’s action at the Aquatic Centre.

Pirates Swim Club were second with 203.5 in the men’s category and 185.5 in the women’s, while Hightide Stingrays Swim Club held third place in the both the men’s and women’s with 40 and 39.5, respectively, after they managed to push the Grenfin Swim Club of Grenada to fourth in the men’s divisions.

Spearheading Alpha’s charge in the girls was Ashley Weekes, who completed three victories in the girls’ 13-14 age-group, winning the 200 metres freestyle, 200 metres individual medley and 100 metres butterfly. (RG)
